Delicious Carajillo 43 Recipe
Share
Attention all coffee and cocktail lovers! Get ready to experience the Carajillo coffee cocktail featuring Licor 43 which you can now source at a number of liquor stores in Alberta.
The name "Carajillo" traces its roots back to the days when Cuba was under Spanish rule. Originally known as "Corajillo" (derived from the Spanish word "corage," meaning courage), this beverage is said to have been cherished by soldiers fighting in the independence war. They believed that sipping on this unique blend of coffee and liquor bestowed them with the bravery needed to face the battlefield. As time went on, the name gradually evolved into "Carajillo," and the recipe has been cherished and passed down through generations.
Carajillo Coffee Cocktail can be made with Brandy or Rum but my favourite recipe is with Licor 43.
Now, let's get down to business and whip up this drink. Here's what you'll need:
Ingredients:
- 1 shot of espresso or 3-4 ounces of strong brewed coffee
- 1 shot of Licor 43 (adjust according to your taste preferences)
- Ice cubes
-
Instructions:
1️⃣ Brew a shot of espresso or make a strong cup of coffee using your preferred method. Ensure that it has that rich and robust flavour to complement the other ingredients.
2️⃣ If you like a touch of sweetness, add sugar or your preferred sweetener to the hot coffee. Stir it well until the sweetener dissolves. This step is optional, so adjust the sweetness to your liking. I would suggest trying it first without any sugar since Licor 43 is quite sweet.
3️⃣ Allow the coffee to cool for a few minutes. If you're in a hurry, pop it in the fridge for a quick cool down or use a cocktail shaker.
4️⃣ Fill a glass with ice cubes, choosing a glass that can comfortably accommodate the drink.
5️⃣ Pour a shot of Licor 43 over the ice cubes in the glass.
6️⃣ Gradually pour the cooled coffee into the glass, allowing it to mingle with the Licor 43.
7️⃣ Give your Carajillo a gentle stir, ensuring that the coffee and Licor 43 mingle like old friends.
8️⃣ It's time to serve! You can enjoy your Carajillo as is, or if you want to add a touch of elegance, consider garnishing it with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon or a twist of orange peel. These little touches can elevate the presentation and aroma.
Cheers to courage, coffee, and another fun Calgary Stampede!
